If you didn’t know already May is National Salad Month. Most people immediately think of salad dressing when they hear Balsamic Vinegar and Balsamic Nectar makes one of the best dressings around! Of course, if you have tried a good Balsamic Vinegar like ours you know it can be used for much more than that. If you are curious, see our pages “How to use Balsamic Nectar” and “Entertaining with Balsamic Nectar” for some ideas.
One of the things we love about Balsamic Nectar is the simplicity and power of how one ingredient can change a meal from good to great. All you have to do to dress just about any salad is drizzle Balsamic Nectar along with your favorite extra virgin olive oil (we like California Olive Ranch) and add an optional sprinkle of sea salt and/or pepper to taste.
If you feel like experimenting with a balsamic vinaigrette here is a simple recipe to get you started…
- 6 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tbsp Balsamic Nectar
- 1/2 tsp dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 Tbsp fresh OR 1/2 Tbsp dried herbs (try and combination of oregano, basil, dill, rosemary, or thyme) – optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients in bowl or in food processor and mix well.
Enjoy those salads!
